When To Use Table Calculations vs. LODs in Tableau

When should you use Table Calculations and when should you use an LOD? There are differing opinions out there...

When the calculation is dependent on information in your window, use a Table Calc. When it's independent, use an LOD.

Unless... your workbook starts to show performance issues. LODs can slow down the performance of your workbook as they push the processing of the calculations back to the database. Table Calculations can slow down your workbook if there is no pre-processing and Tableau is relying on the Table Calcs to do all your processing.

So when should you use one or the other? We'll tackle that here!
