Dual Axis charts are one of the most versatile chart types in Tableau. They house two measures with independent axes in a single view.
Dual axis charts have numerous uses; showing two labels for a single bar, creating rounded bars, or even making donut charts!
Getting a solid grasp of the basics of this chart type is a crucial aspect to any Tableau Toolkit. In this tutorial, we’ll walk through the two key ways that we use Dual Axis charts:
1. To display two measures with similar axes and differing mark types
2. To display two measures with differing axes and the same mark types
If you’d like to see how to use Dual Axis charts to achieve some of these weird and wonderful visuals like rounded bar charts or line graphs with conditionally formatted circles in the foreground, let me know! I’d be super happy to walk us through those.
