Setting permissions appropriately in Tableau dashboards is key to maintaining data reporting integrity.
Let’s imagine I’m a sales manager and have a dashboard that lets me oversee how my sales reps are performing:
I’d like to publish this dashboard to Tableau Online so it’s live and I want my manager counterpart Kirk to be able to see this dashboard but not Jared since he is a contemporary of Chad’s.
I’m going to select Server and Publish Workbook from the toolbar. After adjusting the other settings as necessary I’m going to select Edit next to Permissions.
From there I can select Edit and choose either an individual user or group whose permissions I’d like to alter:
Those permissions can later be adjusted on Tableau Online or Tableau Server if necessary.
